Puppy Training in San Diego by Got Sit Dog Training
Training that Actually Works!
Puppies are adorable, but they’re also tiny, furry chaos machines. Our Puppy Training in San Diego focuses on teaching essential skills like sit, stay, and 'please don’t eat the furniture.' We use real-world training to ensure your pup grows up to be a well-behaved dog.
Every puppy is different, which is why we tailor our training to fit your dog’s unique personality. Whether your pup is a confident explorer or a nervous shadow, we adjust our methods to make sure they feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
Our goal isn’t just to teach your puppy a few tricks, it’s to set them up for a lifetime of good behavior. With Got Sit Dog Training San Diego, you’ll have a puppy that listens, learns, and makes your life easier, not messier.
Got Sit Dog Training is North County San Diego’s go-to dog training company, bringing real-world training techniques that actually work. Founded in 2007 by Marvin Versteeg, what started as a solo mission to create well-behaved, confident dogs has grown into a game-changing training system that dog owners love.
With so much dog training advice floating around online—and let’s be real, every friend, neighbor, and random dog park stranger has their own “expert” opinion—it’s hard to know what actually works. That’s where we come in. We let you see the results before you commit.
We believe in proven, practical training, and we want you to feel 100% confident in your decision. That’s why we offer a free in-home consultation—no strings attached. We’ll show you exactly what we do, work with your dog right in your home, and even bring one of our own dogs to demonstrate just how well our system works.
No two dogs (or owners) are the same, which is why we offer a variety of tailor-made training options designed to fit your specific needs. Whether you have a rambunctious puppy, a stubborn adolescent, or a dog with behavioral challenges, we have a program that works for you.

Puppy Roadmap questions we hear from new owners in Carlsbad, San Marcos, 4S Ranch and everywhere in between.
The week your puppy comes home. The Puppy Roadmap starts with private lessons in your home that cover what matters at eight to sixteen weeks: a potty routine, crate manners, nipping, name recognition and calm greetings. As your puppy grows and your veterinarian clears outings, your trainer moves the lessons into real-world sessions on quiet Encinitas side streets, then busier spots.
No. The first lessons happen inside your home and yard, so you can start before the vaccine series is complete and build good habits before bad ones set in. Real-world sessions around other dogs, like a walk through Carlsbad Village or a visit to Lake Poway, wait until your veterinarian says your puppy is ready.
Normal, yes. Acceptable, no. Puppies explore with their mouths, and if nobody teaches them otherwise the nipping becomes a habit that hurts once the adult teeth arrive. Your trainer shows you how to redirect, how to use the crate and the place command, and how everyone in the house, including kids, gives the puppy the same clear message.
Please include them. Puppies learn fastest when everyone in the home gives the same signals, and a child who knows how to ask for a sit and wait for it is a huge help. Your trainer shows the whole family what to do at the first in-home lesson, from the toddler in Vista who keeps getting knocked over to the teenager who wants to take over the walks.
