No More Dragging, No More Frustration
Because You Should Walk Your Dog, Not the Other Way Around
Leash pulling is one of the most common (and frustrating) issues dog owners face. Our Leash Training in San Diego teaches your dog to walk nicely by your side, without the pulling, zig-zagging, or spontaneous lunging at squirrels.
Your dog won’t just learn to walk properly in a quiet training room, we practice in real-world environments, so they stay focused even with distractions like bikes, joggers, and tempting sidewalk snacks.
With our Leash Training, you’ll finally enjoy peaceful, controlled walks instead of feeling like you’re in a daily wrestling match. Your shoulders (and sanity) will thank you.
Got Sit Dog Training is North County San Diego’s go-to dog training company, bringing real-world training techniques that actually work. Founded in 2007 by Marvin Versteeg, what started as a solo mission to create well-behaved, confident dogs has grown into a game-changing training system that dog owners love.
With so much dog training advice floating around online—and let’s be real, every friend, neighbor, and random dog park stranger has their own “expert” opinion—it’s hard to know what actually works. That’s where we come in. We let you see the results before you commit.
We believe in proven, practical training, and we want you to feel 100% confident in your decision. That’s why we offer a free in-home consultation—no strings attached. We’ll show you exactly what we do, work with your dog right in your home, and even bring one of our own dogs to demonstrate just how well our system works.
No two dogs (or owners) are the same, which is why we offer a variety of tailor-made training options designed to fit your specific needs. Whether you have a rambunctious puppy, a stubborn adolescent, or a dog with behavioral challenges, we have a program that works for you.
Raising a puppy in San Diego means beach walks, patio brunches, and endless adventures—but only if they have the right training! Our Puppy Roadmap program gives your pup the foundation they need, starting with private in-home lessons to get them on the right track. From there, real-world sessions with your trainer reinforce the commands in public settings, helping your puppy grow into a well-balanced, confident dog.
Our Executive Training program is the gold standard of dog training. Starting with private in-home lessons and progressing to real-world sessions with your trainer, this program takes your dog from kindergarten to canine university. Whether your goal is off-leash control, rock-solid obedience, or a perfectly behaved adventure buddy, this program gives you everything you need to create an exceptional companion.
Need a little extra help (or a break)? Our Board and Train Jump Start program gives your dog the fast-track training they need while they stay with our expert trainers. Whether you’re short on time, struggling with consistency, or just want a head start, we’ll do the heavy lifting—so you can focus on enjoying a better-behaved dog right away.
Fearful, confused, or even aggressive dogs aren’t hopeless—they just need the right guidance. Our Aggression Management program is designed to help reactive dogs overcome stress, fear, and behavioral challenges. By working with you and your dog, we build trust, confidence, and clear leadership, helping your dog feel secure and responsive—no matter the situation.
Most dogs need more than one thing. These pair naturally with dog leash training.

Pulling, lunging and what a real walk should feel like, from Oceanside to Poway.
Because pulling has worked. Every time your dog leaned into the leash and got closer to the smell, the squirrel or the other dog, the pulling was rewarded. Your trainer shows you how to change that in your own driveway, then on your street, then on the busier walks around Carlsbad or Encinitas, so your dog learns a loose leash is the only way forward.
Your trainer looks at what you are using now and recommends the right tool for your dog's size, strength and drive. A 90-pound Lab in Fallbrook and a 12-pound terrier in Solana Beach do not need the same setup. More important than the equipment is the communication: a dog that understands what the leash means walks nicely on almost anything.
Yes. Lunging and barking at other dogs on leash is one of the most common reasons North County owners call us. Your trainer starts at home with foundation obedience, then works in real-world sessions at a distance your dog can handle, closing the gap over time. Serious cases move into Aggression Management, which addresses the fear or frustration behind the behavior.
Many dogs get there, but only after they are reliable on leash. Off-leash control is the final stage of Executive Training and the focus of Advanced Dog Training, proofed on trails and properties where off-leash is allowed. Owners on acreage in Valley Center or near the canyons in Rancho Peñasquitos, where coyotes are a fact of life, usually start with recall.
