Both are habits that got rewarded, a sandwich from the counter or a sprint toward the street, and both are fixed with the same tools: clear boundaries, a solid place command and follow-through from everyone in the home. Your trainer sets those up in your kitchen and at your front door, the exact places the behavior happens.
Yes, and we practice it at your door, not in a training room. Your trainer teaches your dog to go to a bed and stay there while someone knocks, enters and sits down, then raises the difficulty with the real distractions your Encinitas or Poway home sees: delivery drivers, kids coming home from school, neighbors dropping by.
Your trainer gives you homework after every lesson and makes sure each person in the home, including kids, knows the rules and the commands. Consistency matters more than intensity, so ten minutes a day beats an hour on Sunday. Between lessons you can text your trainer with questions, and the next lesson builds on what you practiced.
