Owner / Trainer at Got Sit Dog Training San Diego. In-home, real-world dog training across North County San Diego.
Marvin founded Got Sit Dog Training in 2007 with one goal: to revolutionize dog training by making it practical, effective, and fun. He believes that training should go beyond the classroom and into real-life situations, where it actually matters.
With years of experience and a passion for canine behavior, Marvin has helped thousands of dogs and their owners develop structured, well-balanced relationships. His training methods are designed to build trust, communication, and reliability—without gimmicks or shortcuts.
Marvin’s reputation extends beyond training sessions—he’s been featured on radio programs, television segments, and in multiple publications. His engaging, results-driven approach has earned Got Sit Dog Training numerous accolades, making it a go-to choice for dog owners seeking real results.
Every Got Sit trainer teaches the same method and works with you one-on-one in your home.
One of the trainers pictured on this page. Kim leads the North County team and Hunter trains alongside her, and both teach the method Marvin Versteeg developed when he founded Got Sit in 2007. You work with your trainer one-on-one in your home and then out in your neighborhood, so the same person sees your dog from the first lesson to the last.
Yes. Kim trains with Keiko, a Cattle Dog and Pitbull mix she rescued at five months old, and Hunter trains with Lokai, a Border Collie and Golden Retriever mix. They bring their dogs to your free in-home consultation so you can see the finished result in person in your own living room, not on a video.
Usually Tatum, the business admin for Got Sit San Diego. She schedules your free in-home consultation, matches you with a trainer by location and your dog's needs, and keeps communication between you and your trainer running smoothly. If you call during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, you will reach a person.
Tell us when you book. We match trainers by where you live and what your dog needs, and we honor requests whenever schedules allow. Either way, the method and the program are the same, and your trainer stays with you from the first in-home lesson through the real-world sessions.
